It is COLD here in western South Dakota! How does one write songs about the Spring season???
Well… if you’re an artist like myself, you just simply imagine, or remember what you love about that time of year. Just the other day I wrote a piece called “New Life.” I am planning to share the song this coming week-end as I start my year of travel and ministry. Some of you may not know… but I am full time Christian Musician and I travel around the country sharing my music and my ministry in churches of all denominations. The instrumental music that I compose is a very deep part of what I do as an artist and a musician.
Anyway… I start my new year of travel and ministry at Destiny Foursquare Church (Rapid City, SD) this week-end and I planning to introduce this new song as a preview to my upcoming “Spring Reflections” CD… the last and 4th collection inspired by the seasons of the Black Hills of South Dakota.
As I composed this piece I thought of melting snows… leaves appearing on trees… flowers bursting up from the ground and of course, the increased sounds of children playing outside. I think I captured this nicely on “New Life.” I hope you’ll agree when you hear it!
One last comment… I decided long ago that this album would be a SOLO Guitar effort. In other words… one guitar, that’s it! Kinda excited for the challenge of writing melodic pieces with one guitar. Hoping for the best as I continue the writing phase for “Spring Reflections.”
Please stay tuned as I work towards completing this wonderful seasonal series.
I know… sounds pretty bold, but it’s true… Will Ackerman’s music has been a source of great inspiration in my heart and life… since 1982. I hope I one day have the blessing of working with him on one of my albums…
“Autumn Reflections” is one of my favorite tracks from my latest release of the same name. I love the space between the notes and the feeling of the arrangement. It creates a feeling a peace and calm… and, I hope that as you listen you will sense and know that peace that passes all understanding.
My dear friend Shawn Shoup used a song of mine called “Seed of Change” for special video of his daughter riding her new bike with training wheels. I LOVE watching this… and hearing my song in the background.
Life is about change… it’s something we’re always walking through each and everyday. In this case we get to witness a tender, and precious moment of Kella coming of age. As noted… I LOVE this!!!
Looks as though someone used “Mademoiselle Freckles” for a video where a guy spins fire sticks… ok, that’s kinda cool. Always honored every time someone feels my music is worthy of their video…

So sorry… it’s been so long since I posted any thoughts or updates here on the site. I hope to get back into the swing of things in the coming months a head.
“Summer Reflections” has been well received. We still haven’t officially released it in CD form and I am not sure what to do in regard to that. We’re selling far more downloads than anything else, but I also understand there are folks like myself who still enjoy having an actual product in their hands. At any rate… I’m still wondering what is the best approach for all concerned.
On a different note, my recording studio has been upgraded to a more powerful computer and I am in the final stages of preparing to start production for “Autumn Reflections.”
I would have started much sooner… but as noted, I had some computer issues in my studio and it stalled all my efforts for this summer. Thankfully all is all and I am good to go! I’ll update you as the project progresses.
