‘This Is My Prayer’ was written many years ago. Back then Jill and I lived in Piedmont, South Dakota. My office/recording studio window was open to the west and my view afforded me many views of the foothills of the Black Hills.
One morning I was opening the curtains in my office to survey the new morning that was upon us. As I soon as I did… the sun was rising from the east and resting on the Ponderosa Pines of the Black Hills. It was a stunning moment and it literally took my breath away. It is a moment that is forever burned in my memory. Even now as I pause to remember, I find myself missing Western South Dakota. What a wonderful place!
It’s in moments like this I find myself deeply inspired and I started writing a song asking God to be with me as this new day begins. As I grow older, I am wanting God’s guidance more and more. Especially over the last years. I need God in my life more than ever!
Every day is a gift… may we live it well with Jesus by our side!

Woke up this morning
With You on my mind
I’m grateful for another day
Wiping the sleep from my eyes
It’s back to the daily grind
But I’m grateful for another day
This is my prayer today
That I might walk in Your ways
This is my prayer today

Walking through the door into the world
With you by my side
And I’m asking You to lead the way
Guide my thoughts and the words I say
May I reflect You in everyday
Here am I Lord, send me out today
