“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”Isaiah 43:18–19
Biblical new beginnings are rarely clean slates. God often starts something new through a departure, a death, a failure, or a call that costs something.
Considering Abraham for a moment… God told Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you” (Genesis 12:1). New beginning here meant leaving familiarity before seeing the destination. Faith was not a feeling of readiness. It was obedience that made room for promise.
God usually begins by calling a person out… of a land, a habit, a false self, a closed story. The past is acknowledged, not worshipped. The future is often unclear at the start. The center is not “reinvent yourself,” but “follow Me.” Through it all, God’s grace does not only comfort. It sends.
A new beginning with Jesus is less like erasing the last page and more like turning it because He is already on the next one. The question is rarely, “Can I start over?” In Scripture the better question is, “Will I go with Him now?”
